Longboarding isn’t only a sport that is well-loved by guys. There are lots of girls who love them too. I can see the increase in girls who are interested in and doing well in it.
However, a quite observant as I am, there are few things that I’d just have to voice out. These are simply my views and I don’t want to start any debate about it. You don’t have to do them but I hope some would take value from them.
Wear Pants To Avoid Road Rash
Girls in shorts look great but if you came to push yourself to your limits, then you’d be expecting that there is a possibility of crashing. Some think that the road rash they get is part of the sport and looks cool but it can really be avoided by covering up. That is if you want to protect your body.
I myself have worn shorts but have learned the hard way to cover up to lessen those nasty road rashes.
Women Longboards Don’t Exist
There is no such thing as a longboard specifically created for men or for women. It is just a marketing trick to get you to buy their product. Sure there are designs but those can be customized. The length, width, and weight of the board varies and will depend on what you prefer not your gender.
Let’s Unite And Not Divide
I’m all for women empowerment but we are all here to love longboarding. Although I’m not saying this about all women, some don’t want to skate with guys. Sure there can be events sponsored for women longboarders but that doesn’t mean its okay to be a snob about it.
Men longboarders get sponsored too. It would be best for us all to unite and enjoy the sport together rather than divide ourselves with female-only or male-only longboarding events.
Final Words
Anyone can enjoy longboarding just like anyone enjoys skateboarding or riding a pro scooter. It is not limited to a certain gender or age group. It is a fun activity that can help build a community and bind a bond amongst longboarders.
